If you’re looking for the perfect case for larger long guns or for several average size guns, you’re in luck: the Pelican 1770 is one of the most versatile gun cases available. Often there’s enough room left over in the case for scopes and other accessories as well.
But the 1770 isn’t just a gun case (although this is one of its most popular uses). As one of our many cases with configurable interiors, there are other ways to use it, particularly for storing and transporting other sports equipment.
Safety and Security for Peace of Mind
For maximum safety and security while in transit, this case is lockable. Padlock hasps are stainless-steel reinforced.
Moisture Proof for Rust-Free Storage
The chief enemy of guns is, of course, moisture. Many a gun owner has opened a case after several months to find that condensation has collected in the case and has caused rust on their weapon. To help prevent this, the two pressure equalization valves on this case work without letting water vapour in.
This case is also waterproof. Thanks to the famous Pelican watertight seal, this case can go overboard and still protect your gun (view test video). In fact, it is buoyant up to 280 lbs (127 kg), so the hard part might be getting it to sink.
The polymer in this case was chosen to provide crushproof dependability and still remain surprisingly light at 36 lbs (16.32 kg). Ribs on lid allow for easy stacking. Like most of Pelican’s cases, it’s guaranteed for life.
Easy Transportation Options
Until they invent cases that float, the Pelican offers several of the easiest ways to transport your equipment. Polyurethane wheels are designed with ball bearings in hubs to roll well on most reasonably smooth surfaces, but small enough to stay out of the way. In fact, you can stand the case upright on the wheeled end if needed.
There are two handles on this case, one on the long end opposite the wheels for rolling, and another one one the opposite end for two-person carrying. Double-width grips make them kinder to the hands when you’re on the move. The handles fold down to give you more room to store other items.
At 57.42 inches - or 1.45 metres - almost 5 feet long - this is one of the longest cases Pelican sells, but it will still easily fit in any car.
- Meets MIL-STD-810G Fungal growth resistance.
